This tube is manufactured from stainless steel and provides an efficient method of extracting a 2.9 cm diameter core from the surface soil. The tube has a cutaway section from which the core can be easily removed and the handle is comfortable to hold. Although very strong the sampler is surprisingly lightweight weighing just 465g.
